All our windows and doors have 24mm thick double glazed units with a 16mm spacer between the glass fitted as standard. European testing has proven that 16mm is the optimum performance space between each pane of glass
In a world of higher energy costs the most efficient long term solution to lower your energy bills is to fit double-glazed units with a 16mm spacer between the glass.
Double-glazing is available in all types of specifications from standard clear float glass to toughened, laminated, Low E, tinted glass and Argon gas filled units.
Double-glazing can reduce your heat loss through windows by up to 50%.
Typical U values of glass
• |
The U value of single clear glass is approx 5.4 |
• |
Standard double glazing with a 16mm air gap U value 2.6 |
• |
If you add a Low E coating to your double glazed unit the U value will be 1.8 |
• |
If you use Argon gas to fill the air gap, the U value will reduce to 1.6 |
Remember, the lower the U value the better the performance.
